While "the others" decline, CAD Front is on the rise

Until CAD Front gets permission to discuss names, this announcement is too exciting to not post.  We have partnered with a business coaching firm that specializes in small/medium sized start-up companies in Michigan!  Our direct coach has a successful career including the start-up of his own two companies.  His background includes a Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering, which is perfect for CAD Front and their market.  This company is helping us define our structure to be even more market-competitive.

In the first few months of the new year, expect to see additional offerings from CAD Front as we pursue software distribution rights from major developers.  This would once again solidify our market place to provide the ultimate in low price services AND software!

So you're ready to fix a problem?

Some teachers say that there are no "stupid" questions. I might disagree. I think people don't always know how to ask the right question. Some questions won't solve anything if answered, but some questions can take you beyond your normal thought process. CAD Front would like to build a community of people who are problem solvers. But to be one, you've got to think beyond simple. If it becomes too complex, please ask us here.

Many people ask questions with such a narrow perspective, and I'd like to break that habit here at CAD Front. Ask yourself what the question will solve...then ask why does that need to be solved. If that is unknown, please ask us here.

Our background comes from many years of process enhancements through a discovery process. People want to tell us about something, but don't always look at the bigger picture.
Here are some examples:
Your Neighbor
"Every day before work I put a bowl under my leaky kitchen pipe. But when I come home from work, the bowl has overflowed onto the floor. How can I get a larger bowl under my sink, that fits between the pipe and the cupboard?"
General Response:
"Use a pan. It is large and flat, which will allow you to work overtime without getting your floors wet"
CAD Front Response:
"Why use a bowl, when the actual problem seems to be the leaking pipe. Fix the pipe, and you won't need the bowl. Plus, you'll have more space for other things"
--------------------------

Company A:
"We're having a problem with our design process. I can't import these CAD files from one system into another system unless we jump through these 12 steps. Step 1...step 2...etc."
General Tech forum response:
"Well, if you're on release 56 of the 3D CAD software, and version 21.b of the 2D CAD software, then you can download this utility patch that will allow you to import certain files"
CAD Front response:
"Why are there different file formats?"
"Is there a way we can use a single platform for all design, all together avoiding this issue?"
"What is the reason for two different design groups to work on the same file?"
Experience tells us that there is often times a larger problem to solve than what was originally posed in a question. I hope you enjoyed this post, and get to learn my personality throughout this site. I like to use dry jokes to explain situations that most everyone can relate to.

What can make you "Leading Edge"?

I've seen it. I sometimes go there once in a while to look for something good. Hours later I come away confused and entertained by the antics that are discussed in casual technology discussions. I'm willing to invest the time in my research, but I want value, I want the truth. We're not short of discussion boards and forums that discuss technical tips and tutorials. But we are short of the value behind these sites when it comes to solving real problems.

  • No excuses
  • Pure answers, whether it's good or bad news
  • Done...Now let's get started

CAD Front is small today, but will be growing strongly in the future. It's a place where targeted issues are discussed and solved. A place where business issues are realized and examined. People always ask "How" and never ask "Why?" Here at CAD Front, expect to see many replies where we ask "Why?". That is because there is a preconceived notion that everyone knows what they're doing, and if they could only get an answer to their next question, everything will be solved. That's not true. Experience shows that thinking beyond the box will allow real problems to be solved with real solutions. CAD Front stands true to the fact that we're not about solving pesky technical, software issues. We're about solving the big problem.

Welcome, and enjoy the knowledge.

Watching CAD Front Rise

Starting a simple web page saying you're "A Consultant" is easy.  Starting a legit business like CAD Front has been a bit cumbersome.  I’d like to thank all of my entrepreneurial associates who have been able to guide me in the right direction when I needed it most.

CAD Front has been no easy feat to get started.  We can't just operate like a temporary service provider that comes and goes without notice.  The startup business plan has tripled in size, but the results are impressive.  Organization of resources needed to operate a business has been one of the most time consuming tasks so far.  Legal concerns, website design, graphics, internal account management, quoting, billing, etc.

I'm close to exhausting my startup capital, but the business already obtained is impressive at this stage.  The design/manufacturing market is rumored to have been in their worst times between November 2008 and June 2009.  Since then, I'm told that business is finally growing but at a slow pace.  I'm sure the skittish nature of making large purchases will be on everyone's mind for many years to come.  It's nice that CAD Front can offer support that is under the radar for most budgets.

CAD Front has completed some documents that will be posted online soon.  Look forward to that soon.

Watching the market fall

As more of my friends and ex-coworkers are being consumed by the mass-layoffs in the CAD reseller/service industry, I've come to realize that this could be a great opportunity for us all.

- We're already skilled in the technical design software
- We have to communicate well due to our consulting nature
- We creatively solve problems 24-7 with various customer projects
- Our only problem is centralizing our whereabouts and services

Everything is in the making for each of us to transition to a career where we work for ourselves.  If only the general design/software market wasn't in such a damaged state.  But Wait! What if a company already owned their software?...What if that same company was also struggling with the bad economy?...What if they needed to continue to keep operations moving as smoothly as possible just to break even at the end of the month?  Well, I think the opportunity has found a solution...CAD Front.  Right now, I'm working as an independent contractor for several of these companies.  I don't need to charge an exorbitant amount of money to maintain income and the customer gets amazing talent (if I may say so) for a price that we're all happy to work with.

CAD Front is a new type of business that allows much more flexibility in business operations.  I've been excited to contact my friends for the past several months to build a talent matrix that is absolutely amazing.  Look for future posts on how CAD Front is developing.
